Motherboard Connectors
Before the case gets too congested with components, it is time to start connecting the various cables/ power connectors that make the components run. (Examples: SATA connectors, external front panel connectors, firewire, speakers, etc.) For this part, I have to use my motherboard user guide to help because every computer motherboard and case assembly are different. This is the part where the tweezers may come in handy. Connecting all the cables can be a little overwhelming for a first time builder so know that it does take patience. I have to make sure all the connectors are right because a wrong connector could cause damage or cause the computer to boot improperly.
The first step I decided to take was to wire the front panel connectors and the motherboard speaker. I placed the front panel next to the computer case and put the wiring through the front of the computer case so they are ready to be installed.

I will need to use my motherboard user guide to assist me in finding where each connector should go. I now connected the front panel connectors and the motherboard speaker.

Next I will connect the SATA cables to the motherboard and lay them to the side of the case because after the video cards are installed these will be hard to access. Again I need to check my user guide on which SATA ports to use. (Note: Some computers will use IDE and not SATA, so make sure to read the user guide and follow the correct instructions.)

At this time I need to unravel the power supply wiring and install the ATX power connector and the processor power connector.

Most of the hard to reach connectors have now been installed and I can continue installing my components.
